Virtual Dietitians in HPN Group UK
The Virtual Dietitians in HPN Group is an e-mail and web-based forum for discussions about any aspects of home parenteral feeding, including (among other interesting topics):
- Monitoring patients on HPN
- Dietetic issues
- Management of a high output stoma or fistula
- Models of service
- Commissioning issues including HIFNET and the HPN Framework
- Outcome measures.
The group is hosted on LinkedIn and is managed by PENG. However you do not need to be a member of PENG to join the group. The group is open to any dietitian who is involved in caring for patients receiving HPN. http://www.peng.org.uk/hcp-forums/pn-group.php
Feedback from PENG Audit and Research Symposium
On 16th November 2015, PENG held their Audit and Research Symposium at The Strand in London. Following on from the review in the last issue of PENlines (www.peng.org.uk/penlines/issue-10-winter-2015/featured-article), feedback from the delegates has been collated and we share the results of this successful meeting below.

“The opportunity to see what research is required to take the dietetic profession forward and promote our role. It was also good to observe what other Dietetic Departments around the UK are researching at present.”

7. PENG subsidised the cost of the symposium; did this affect your decision to attend?

The PENG Committee are delighted to see that the Symposium provided delegates with the knowledge they needed to move forward with their audit and research endeavours.
Apply for a PENG Grant
PENG are able to offer some small grants to PENG members enabling you to undertake research, audit and service evaluation in the area of clinical nutrition and nutrition support.
PENG members can apply to PENG for money to support aspects of running a project, project costs, equipment and for help with salaries. Exceptionally money can be awarded to support study at post graduate (PG) level.
