PENG Award 2018
The 16 PENG members who have submitted abstracts to BAPEN have also applied for the PENG Award. The PENG Award is a supportive educational grant to allow PENG members to attend the BAPEN Conference in Harrogate this November.
PENG would like to thank all applicants and the judges who are working hard at present scoring abstracts and hope to announce winners by the August to allow early bird BAPEN registration (www.bapen.org.uk/resources-and-education/meetings/annual-conference).
In addition, PENG would like to sincerely thank our sponsors Abbott, Fresenius-Kabi and Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition for their ongoing support. The three winners will be asked to write 500 words on their experience of attending the BAPEN Conference to present their abstract, and you will be able to read these in the first edition of PENlines in 2019.
Have you claimed your free BAPEN membership, which you are entitled to as a PENG member? If not and you would like to, please contact us to be able to receive the link to set this up: peng@bda.uk.com
Competencies Project
Sean White, HEF Lead
At the end of July, a 2-hour stakeholder workshop was held and attended by 6 dietitians, 2 doctors and 3 nurses in Sheffield.
So far, with regards to this project, an interview guide has been developed with some assistance from a qualitative researcher colleague. The aim is to explore HCP's experience of gaining competence in placing balloon gastrostomy tubes and to identify key priorities for the development.
The report to be written will be based on the workshop, the knowledge gained from the workshop will be used to develop a national survey, which we hope we will get out this year.
Should you like more information on this work please get in touch: peng@bda.uk.com
Look out for PENG at the BDA Research Symposium
The BDA Research Symposium is held annually on the first Wednesday of December in Birmingham City Centre. Abstract submission is open from May until mid-July and registration for attendance opens in September.
Do not forget to submit any posters/abstracts for the Symposium. If you are interested in doing so but would welcome talking to someone, please do get in contact as we are very happy to support/provide feedback: peng@bda.uk.com.
